Hello! My name is Laura Szech and I am the Chief Administrative Officer (principal) of this wonderful school.
I grew up in a northern suburb of Chicago called Lake Bluff. I attended the University of Iowa for my undergraduate work in Elementary Education and French. I moved to Colorado on a whim after visiting here and loving it! I am currently finishing my Master’s Degree at University of Northern Colorado in Reading Education and plan to continue my education at CSU in the administrative licensure program in June.
When I arrived in Fort Collins I worked as a substitute teacher for PSD then in the autism program at O’Dea Elementary. I decided to move to Denver to work at a first year charter school called Community Leadership Academy in Commerce City. I truly loved the opening of a new charter school but found myself missing Fort Collins. I applied for the second grade position here in the school’s opening year and was lucky enough to get it! Last year I was promoted to Curriculum Specialist and from there I became CAO in January. I truly love being able to support the students, teachers, and parents of this school community.
My hobbies include camping, golfing, skiing, yoga, scrapbooking, and reading. I love watching baseball and football , too! My favorite color is blue and my favorite food is Indian. My older brother lives here and is a special education teacher at Lincoln Junior High. The rest of my family and friends remain in the Chicagoland area so I visit there often.
